New Day, New Site

Hello digital world! After almost one year, I’m back. You know what that means? EPIC FAIL. Yes. I promised more updates and posts since then, but clearly that did not happen. As usual, the woes of life (mostly work and misery) have ensued on a regular basis and this site has been neglected. However, recently I bought a new laptop (the BEAUTIFUL Microsoft Surface Laptop) and it really inspired me to get back into technical hobbies. I was actually just trying to update the copyright information for the site when I apparently nuked the entire design and had to take it offline. This, it turns out, was a really good thing because it lead to me redesigning the entire site with a new colour scheme and theme. I decided to go with my favourite colour (PURPLE!) and I absolutely love the new result.

The new layout, along with a slew of server optimization and plugin upgrades have greatly improved this space and I really do hope to start getting back into the rhythm of posting. Maybe not as much lengthy contest (yeah right, liar…), but definitely some interesting pieces here and there. One new thing I want to introduce is a travel category as I’ve recently started exploring and I would love to share my experiences. I will also be working on more reviews to allow for new media content.

I will try my best this year to continue the trend of posting new things. Wish me luck!

Time To Refresh!

It is absolutely unforgivable that I have not posted since 2015; it’s the middle of 2017 now! Where on Earth does the time go? In all honesty, a lot has changed from then until now, but I won’t waste time going over excuses. Instead, I’m going to dive into some much-needed news that will refresh everything!

I’ve officially re-branded this blog as the complete website for I realized the other day that I’ve had a website template pending since 2012, which is not only severely outdated at this point, but it was never fully developed. I know I will never find the correct amount of time to design, code, and maintain a manual website, so I decided to revamp this blog as my new homepage. That being said, I went through each page/post and updated all links accordingly, so everything should be working just fine with the new site address. I also made some minor design changes to give the site a better feel.

In other news, I had to temporarily turn off registration due to the site being overrun by spam users. While, yes, the site does have anti-spam filters and plugins in effect, something is definitely wrong and I will be looking into fixing the issue. I’ve moderated all spam comments and purged all of the fake users, so in case any posts or profiles that belonged to someone real have gone missing, I do apologize and I will try my best to get this under control.

Lastly, I have many pending posts that have been in the works over the last two years, so I will look into finishing those. This includes a slew of game and show Reviews. I will also be adding more Music to the site and building up the Stream Center. On the topic of posts, I have added one more shareable options to each page; you can now quick-share posts straight into WhatsApp if you are browsing the mobile site through your phone.

There is definitely a lot going on for me career-wise right now, but I won’t let that stop me from posting every now and again. As always, I do hope this site is a great showcase of my opinion, works, and talent. If you have any thoughts to share, don’t hesitate to Contact Me. Otherwise, full speed ahead!

Optimization Time

Over the last week I’ve been conducting a couple of noteworthy updates seeing as though I have had the time on my hands. I’ve scarcely made any major announcements over the last year so I figured I should mention some things right about now. Here goes!

Server Upgrades

I totally took for granted that I’ve had this site for YEARS, and in that time I have barely explored the settings and options available to me. This week I reviewed everything and have started optimizing the site. In light of the fact that I still haven’t developed a fully functional homepage, I’ve directed to this blog and will continue to use this blog as the main index of my site for now. I found I was behind several versions of PHP, so I took the time to upgrade that in order to improve the functionality of these posts. While I was at it, I took a look at WordPress‘ development tools and I have since implemented some upgrades there as well. Recently I debuted audio playlists as an option on this blog, but I’ve also installed a download manager so I can share files as needed in the future. Also, I’ve been able to raise the the allotted memory and disk space given to this blog, which leads to the next point…

Media Refreshment

I spent the last few days taking every piece of video and audio down from this blog and re-encoding them into higher quality versions. I was previously limited to a certain margin of quality, but when I was performing the upgrades I was able to lift these limitations. I’m very happy about this because the video and audio quality is definitely much better. I must forewarn that because my videos are all in full HD format and the audio has been upsized, the load times for all streaming media will be a bit slower. Hang in there, the links aren’t broken, it just takes some time to preload the content. Unfortunately at this time, video playback is still not supported using Internet Explorer. I will work on this in the coming weeks.

Stream Center

The Stream Center is finally now open. It took me a while to decide how I would implement this; the original plan was to create a subdomain stream site from scratch, but the coding work is too much for me. Besides, WordPress has so many possibilities that I am quite pleased to keep everything here under one roof. This static page will be updated to contain all media in one place for quick access and serve as an index.

Future Plans

Right now my personal life is allowing me much free time to work on many things, so as long as that lasts I want to dive into making more posts about a variety of different topics and genres. Look out for added categories and pages over the next little while. As mentioned above, I am trying my best to bring cross-browser compatibility to the table, so I will try to get all streamed content to function in Internet Explorer very soon. I am also adding a few extensions and plugins that might offer a variety of new services, such as the download manager I mentioned before.

That’s it! Please bare with me as I make this place better and better. I am but a lone soldier in this empty world!

Sailor Moon Crystal

Words cannot express my intense excitement about this… I have only been one of the hugest die-hard fans of Sailor Moon since childhood, but this is like a miraculous dream come true that I would never have seen coming. It was only a mere hope for myself and many other fans around the world for the legacy of this series to live on, but this gift is truly something that I feel will make this year special.

Now, it’s not that today marks the ring of initial news as we (the fan community) all knew this series was in the making since the 20th Anniversary mark that passed two years ago. However, we have all been scarcely kept in the dark about the details; instead, what we have mostly been seeing is merchandise popping up all over the place in honor of the 20th Anniversary. What we do know about ‘Sailor Moon Crystal‘ is that the series is slated for a Worldwide release in July 2014, will most likely welcome back the same Japanese vocal cast, will be subtitled in over 10 different languages, and is set to debut via the online Japanese streaming service Niconico. By the way, it is strongly recommended for fans to sign up for an account from now as we predict the site will be overloaded with requests around the time of the release…

The images below had initially been unofficially leaked from TOEI Animation’s Sailor Moon Official Website, but now there is a animation section providing information in both Japanese and English. The more interesting part of this is the synopsis of the series given, which is identical to the Manga plot of the ‘Classic‘ series. It looks like Sailor Moon Crystal will be heading back to grass-routes, which is very exciting since it is like a remake.

As of today, the excitement is blowing up the Anime and Sailor Moon communities and I for one cannot wait to see what Sailor Moon Crystal has to offer!

New Film Project

I am so very happy and proud to announce that I am officially working on a new film project! This will be the first original production for me to put out in 5 years! My previous films were all produced under the banner J-Paul District, which I have more or less phased out over the last few years due to personal reasons. It is still undecided which production company will be taking over this forthcoming film and any others to come, but the staff members are still the same, which is the most important part!

This time, the script has been written by yours truly and should make for a 5-10 minute maximum short. I can’t give away any details as the filming and production has not yet begun, but it will star myself as the lead role along with familiar faces and new ones alike. The film will mostly be a dark comedy containing great music and plenty of action scenes despite the short run time! The goal is to make this video the exciting debut for many more ambitious projects to come. Unlike in the past where the team and I had to make do with lesser means due to lack of resources, we are set to film and master this project in full high definition video and sound. Even though the length of this video won’t be massively long, there will be a lot of minor details and efforts embedded if all goes according to the grand master plan.

I’d just like to say that this project is definitely going to be top secret, so there won’t be any trailers or promos associated with it, unlike past projects. For the people who are not aware I come from a film background (which is everyone in my current daily life…), I was this to be an ‘out-of-the-blue’ experience. Really, the release date will be the first time any information is given. In other words, SURPRISE! The release date is still pending, but I am hoping for April or May latest. Wish the team and I much luck!

J-Paul District began as a result of small film projects for the classroom, but later became a personal hobby for my friends and I. We all had different talents to bring to the screen and it worked out well for us with a solid fan-base and a few private screenings a long the way. Alcoholic Nightmare (2006) was one of the big impressions we made by doing a full-scale musical in a short period of time. We then, as a result, dabbled in radio and audio recordings for a bit before coming back with Scat Town, a purely original olden-mystery story by Duvaughn Martin.

In 2005 a new era of film had begun for J-Paul District, which finally manifested in 2007’s ‘fan-made’ series Sailor Moon UNIVERSE. It entailed a much larger staff of writers, editors, and actors, and lasted for a couple of years (including the take-over of Universal E. Enterprise). Eventually, it became to difficult to continue the series and keep up with the demands. Although not being original, we had added our own story, own vocal cast, and own animation in many places, as well as manipulating a lot of the original animation from the Anime series. On the one side of things, it is good this project ended seeing as though TOEI Animation slowly started making an appearance with the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Sailor Moon. The purpose of the ‘SMU‘ project was to continue the legacy of what we staff had thought was a GREAT show, but now that responsibility falls onto the original creators of the masterpiece! A new Anime is slated for release this July 2014.

The final project that should have been released, The Duchess of Rasshire (2008), never saw the light of day. Although majority of the project was filmed, the planning and technology for this production did not work out well for the editing process. A trailer was released, but not based on final scenes–only edited segments that looked good enough. This project would have marked the first 100% original production from J-Paul District with a music score designed just for the film, unlike previous projects where the music was borrowed from Sony Music and Columbia Music (to name a few).

By 2010, all productions halted and no new work was released. Sequels were already written for Alcoholic Nightmare 2 and Scat Town 2, but the lack of returning cast and time conflicts buried said scripts away. At the moment, the hope is that all older movies will be re-edited into better quality and then re-released again, or even re-produced with better technology. Ideally, J-Paul District will live on under a new banner.

Welcome to… me!

Words cannot express how thrilled I am to finally be rolling out this blog (though, words will have to do the trick since this is, ironically, a blog). I’ve been saying to myself for years that I really want this, but I never got the chance to actually shape it. However, 2014 seems to be the year and here it is! a place all about my world meeting yours.

I’ll be honest… I plan for this blog to be very random and cover a whole spectrum of topics, because really that’s how my mind works. I’ll be sharing all kinds of updates as there are many new things on the horizon for this site. I also want to get into doing movie and music reviews that I think are worth sharing, as well as some lessons I’ve learned in recent times. I hope that the general public will take a liking to my madness! Bear with me as there will be many face-lifts and edits along the way as I’m still ironing out the design I have in mind for this place, as well as still coding the main websites that need to go up.

Lastly, I’ll try my very best to be on top of the game even though my life is a little bit hectic. Much love to all of the people who’ve followed my work for years and wish me luck with all of these new endeavors! Ciao~!
