GTA IV – The Ballad of Gay Tony ~ K109 The Studio

Today I want to flashback to an epic compilation album I made years and years ago; I STILL jam out to this a lot. I would love to take credit for this amazing playlist of songs, but the real credit goes to Rockstar Games for their amazing work on Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes From Liberty City. The first DLC for the 4th game was The Ballad of Gay Tony; this story-line featured the life of a bouncer named Luis Lopez who worked as a bodyguard for Tony Prince, a nightclub owner. One of the nightclubs, Hercules (a gay-friendly club to be precise), featured the killer disco arrangement that I’ve put together here. As with the other games in this series, one could also enjoy these songs on the radio while driving, particularly station K109 The Studio. I remember being addicted to these songs at the time, so I researched the full list of them and threw this album together. As always, I encourage supporting the original artists, but I admit that might be hard given the age of these songs. For now, I’ve uploaded them here for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!

Duvaughn’s Ultimate Chutney Collection

Time for some more music! During last Christmas I was going through a poor phase (as we all do at times), so I decided I had to be creative when gift-giving to really show my level of care for my friends. One of my best friends (Duvaughn, whose blog can be found here) had always asked me to make him a Chutney CD. Now, the back story here is that Duvaughn is Jamaican, so we all know their native style of music is Reggae, Dancehall, etc… However, in our network of friends, most of us are Guyanese and we are more for the Soca and Chutney craze. Over the years Duvaughn has had to bare with us rambling on obscurely about Trinidad’s wicked music. I never had enough time on my hands to sit down and think up a collection for him, but seeing as though Christmas was on the horizon and I had just left my job, I had time to work my magic. This is definitely one of my better collections and I’ve actually shared it with several people outside of just Duvaughn because I’ve been told it’s THAT GOOD. I went all out and sourced the best possible audio samples and designed a full jacket for the physical album. As you will see below, I have actually typed out the lyrics for each song. I will warn you right now that some of the lyrics COULD be wrong because I literally transliterated each song myself. There’s unfortunately not a lot of good information out there about these artists and their works, so I have tried my very best to give the best credits I can so you can all support the original content. All of these songs are in English, but perhaps I’ll make a more West-Indian collection soon seeing as though there are a lot more wicked jams out there. For now, enjoy this one!

Sailor Moon UNIVERSE – OST

Hello all! I am starting a new media series for this blog in light of the spare time I have on my hands these days. The aim is to share some of my music editing and arranging skills as I will mostly be uploading playlists of CDs I mixed myself. I figure to start it off, I should share a new Soundtrack I put together for my old fan series Sailor Moon UNIVERSE. The music of SMU was one of the biggest reasons behind its success back in the day (yes, my musical tastes are very refined), and with the recent revival of the archived videos, I thought it would be a great idea to arrange a Soundtrack to showcase the pieces we used once upon a time. Also featured are some songs we never got to use because the series ended so soon. Since I am an avid believer in supporting the original artists, I cannot provide a downloadable version of this. Also, unfortunately this is not available for purchase seeing as though it is fan work. I did, however, provide an in-depth sourcing below for those who might want to locate the original samples used. Anyway, please enjoy! I’m proud of this one.
